_____Following the famous traditions of the Oxford/Cambridge Harvard/Yale rivalries, the Saints/College Boat Race is the annual duel between the Vanouver Collge Fighting Irish and Saint George's Saints crews. While the younger crews compete for bragging rights only, the winner of the Boat Race Trophy is decided by the Senior 8+ race. Since the race's inception in 1989, Vancouver College has won all but four of the competitions. In its current format, the race is run on a 1500m open course, finishing in front of the Kitsilano Coast Guard station in Vanier Park. This year the Irish won the Boat Race for the 11th time in 15 years.
